On the Second Sundayin October we hostthe annual Fish Harvest.

St Mary-at-Hill church is located close by to Billingsgate, an area of London associated with the selling of fish since the 1500s, with Billingsgate Market becoming the largest fish market in the world by the 1800s.

Now the only parish church in the Billingsgate Ward, on the second Sunday of October each year, St Mary-at-Hill hosts its Fish Harvest.

Having maintained a strong relationship with the fish market, the fishmongers kindly donate the fish which is arranged in a magnificent display in the church entrance. After the service, the congregation has the opportunity to purchase the fish, with a proportion also being donated to the Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest, in east London, for the enjoyment of the residents.

Despite Billingsgate Market moving east to Poplar in 1982, the tradition of the Fish Harvest has continued to be a thriving success amongst the local community.
