We have a number of monuments in the church. The earliest is to the Woods family: Anne Woods, her husband John who was a distiller and his son by his second wife Mary, also called John.
Some are profoundly sad. Others more amusing. Of particular note is a monument which Charles Vickars erected to commemorate his wife Henrietta in 1712 in which she is described as ‘greatly excelled in kindness but by no means good looks’!
Thomas Beckford and Henry Loades are commemorated on a plaque in the hallway. They were the churchwardens at the time of the rebuilding of the church after the Great Fire.
